On February 19, PEPR PROPSY program took part in a half-day seminar organized by Sciences Po LIEPP and the Société médico-psychologique on the theme: “Data, methodologies, and commons for integrative research.”

Marion Leboyer, the program’s scientific director, was present alongside Jasmina Mallet.

The experience of rare diseases, presented by Ségolène Aymé, highlighted the importance of structuring data and bringing stakeholders together: the creation of a centralized database, standardized nomenclature, multi-hierarchical classification, and coordination among patients, researchers, and policymakers. This approach made it possible to speak with a single voice and accelerate research.

Marion Leboyer outlined the ambition of PEPR PROPSY: to better understand disorders affecting nearly 10% of the global population, move beyond the heterogeneity of diagnostic categories, strengthen the objectivity of tools, and develop more targeted and effective treatments.

Her work is already showing concrete progress:

  • identification of brain abnormalities shared across multiple disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism),

  • evidence of genetic foundations of autism, confirming its classification among neurodevelopmental disorders,

  • links with the presence of rare diseases (up to 20% of patients),

  • the key role of chronic inflammation (environment, stress, lifestyle),

  • exploration of new dimensions: autoimmunity, metabolism, gut microbiota,

  • development of remote patient monitoring tools.

PEPR PROPSY is part of a broader transformation dynamic:

  • building large-scale cohorts,

  • deploying cutting-edge infrastructure (genomics, AI, imaging),

  • structuring a collaborative ecosystem,

  • developing international partnerships.

PEPR PROPSY continues to pursue its ambition: to identify reliable biomarkers and foster a more precise, more objective psychiatry fully grounded in scientific innovation, in the service of patients.
