Summary

Mental disorders (notably mood disorders, schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders) represent a heavy burden for patients, their families and the society.
They are a major cause of disability and generate a substantial socio-economic cost, estimated at 160 billion euros in France. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic increase in depressive disorders. However, despite the urgency of the situation and its societal repercussions, the field of psychiatry suffers from a lack of attractiveness and innovation in both healthcare and research fields.

The EDU project represents the educational component of the PROPSY research program. It will support the development of a new generation of scientists and caregivers in precision psychiatry and accompany the transfer of new knowledge into clinical practice through an innovative educational portfolio. In addition, the project will raise awareness and help reduce the stigma of psychiatric disorders in society.

The actions implemented are designed to educate, train and raise awareness among the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, researchers). They aim to achieve four main objectives :

– educate and train early-career caregivers in precision psychiatry, and in the new personalized diagnostic and treatment tools they will be able to use in their practice,

– support precision psychiatry research projects led by early career scientists,

– motivate and inspire early career healthcare professionals and researchers by developing incentives and creating a sense of belonging,

– destigmatize mental health among young professionals and the community.

Overall, the aim is to contribute to the current paradigm shift in the field of psychiatry.
By capitalizing on the means and modalities for training, attracting and retaining talent, the project aims to enhance the attractiveness of the discipline and boost precision medicine in mental health.
