Inserm médecine/sciences‘ french-language generalist journal of biomedical news devotes its may issue to precision psychiatry.
Today, nearly 12 million people in France are affected by psychiatric disorders. These illnesses are the leading cause of disability worldwide. The cost to society is considerable: over €160 billion a year in France, and life expectancy reduced by 15 to 20 years. There is an urgent need to develop more targeted and effective therapeutic approaches.
Coordinated by Prof. Marion Leboyer, this special issue situates the objectives of the PROPSY research program within the panorama of recent advances in precision psychiatry and its future challenges.
Topics covered include:
- stratification of patients into homogeneous subgroups,
- identification of biological and digital markers of psychiatric disorders,
- the emergence of new diagnostic tools,
- the therapeutic prospects opened up by translational research and digital technologies in mental health.
