The French National Research Agency (ANR) has launched its 2027 Generic Call for Proposals (AAPG 2027), the Agency’s main funding opportunity for research projects across all scientific disciplines.
The AAPG 2027 has been open since July 16, 2026. The deadline for Step 1 is October 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Paris time.
A call structured around 57 research areas
The AAPG 2027 comprises 57 research areas, including 38 discipline-specific areas organized into seven scientific domains and 19 cross-cutting or interdisciplinary areas. Applicants must select, at the time of submission, the scientific area and corresponding scientific evaluation panel that best match the objectives of their project.
Five funding instruments
The call offers five funding instruments:
- JCJC – Young Investigator;
- PRME – Single-Team Research Project;
- PRC – Collaborative Research Project;
- PRCE – Collaborative Research Project – Enterprise;
- PRCI – Collaborative Research Project – International.
Several changes have been introduced for the 2027 edition. For PRCE projects, Step 1 no longer requires a scientific document: teams only need to complete the project characterization form and provide the requested CVs. Subject to eligibility, this registration will automatically result in an invitation to submit a full proposal in Step 2.
A stronger European dimension
The AAPG 2027 also reflects ANR’s increased commitment to supporting French research teams in accessing European funding, particularly through Horizon Europe.
For PRC projects, new eligibility criteria take into account factors such as the laboratories’ international visibility, the involvement of early-career researchers, and/or the establishment of links with socioeconomic partners. The PRME instrument is now more specifically focused on the coordinator, who commits to subsequently submitting a proposal to a Horizon Europe call.
The JCJC and PRCI instruments also benefit from complementary measures designed to help research teams move toward European funding opportunities, notably through the Percée JCJC and Jeton MRSEI schemes.
