King's College - London

Presentation

For this 2024 edition, which took place from September 11 to 13 in London, the focus was on immuno-psychiatry.

The event was co-organized by the research program, the French Embassy in the UK and King’s College, alongside the Fondation FondaMental.
It was led by Professors Marion Leboyer and Carmine Pariante.

Over the course of three days, the teams brought together to highlight advances in research into immuno-psychiatry in neuropsychiatric disorders.
The aim was to encourage exchanges and collaborations between teams from King’s College and French institutions, such as the Fondation FondaMental and universities.

On Day 1, Marion Leboyer and Carmine Pariante introduced the Summer School with a talk on immuno-psychiatry.

On Day 2, PhDs and post-docs were invited to speak on topics such as exploring clinical phenotypes of depression and their link with immuno-psychiatry, studying metabolic syndrome and inflammation in schizophrenia patients, early detection of depression in adolescence and identifying peripheral signatures in mood disorders and suicidal behavior.

This was followed by talks on immunometabolism by Lucile Capuron and Valeria Mondelli, immunogenetics by Cathryn Lewis and Marion Leboyer, molecular mechanisms of immune dysfunction by Uwe Maskos and Anthony Vernon, and the role of immune cells by Vincent Vieillard and Mary-Ellen Lynall.

Day 3 featured presentations by Neil Harrison, Bruno Aouizerate, Golam Khandaker and Romain Rey on the link between immune dysfunctions, mood disorders and schizophrenia.
