Graduated of the INSERM Liliane Bettencourt School, Boris Chaumette obtained his medical degree from Rouen University and his neurobiology degree from Paris Descartes University in 2016.
After a post-doctorate at McGill University in Montreal, he obtained a position as clinical head and senior lecturer – hospital practitioner at Paris Cité University and Paris GHU.
Within the PEPIT, directed by Pr Marie-Odile Krebs, Boris Chaumette heads the Reference centre for rare diseases with psychiatric manifestations, which in addition to providing access to the latest generation of genetic tests, offers specialized consultations for over 800 patients a year.
Eloi Collery 2024 prize is awarded for his work in molecular biology, carried out at INSERM U1266, which has led to the identification of new genes involved in schizophrenia and an understanding of the epigenetic mechanisms underlying the emergence of psychosis in adolescence.
This prize also rewards his involvement in the transfer of scientific discoveries to hospitals, being co-responsible for the implementation of genome sequencing in psychiatric disorders, in conjunction with the French Genomic Medicine Plan.
He co-leads a European network (COST Action 17130) to develop testing, consulting and training for doctors in the field of psychiatric genetics, and is responsible for implementing molecular biology within major French projects (RHU PsyCare, PEPR PROPSY).
He is also involved in the study of neurodevelopmental disorders at the Pasteur Institute (Pr Thomas Bourgeron’s team), the Robert Debré IHU and GIS.
